Authorities are advising the public to be cautious in their actions to prevent disturbing the elephants as they remain in the city for the duration of the Dasara festivities. The countdown to Dasara has officially kicked off in Mysuru, with the city's famous Dasara elephants beginning rehearsals for the grand Jamboo Savaari procession. This procession will cover a five-kilometre route through the city's main roads, starting from the palace and ending at Bannimantap grounds. The elephants are acclimatizing to the noise of vehicles, loudspeakers, firecrackers, and cannons through exercises held twice daily in the morning and evening. Spectators flock to witness the procession, particularly on weekends, capturing photographs as the Howdah elephant, Abhimanyu, leads the way. Guidelines have been issued for observing the Dasara elephants, including following the instructions of mahouts and Kavadis, maintaining a safe distance, refraining from taking pictures directly in front of moving elephants, and avoiding honking. The Jamboo Savaari is the highlight of Vijayadashami, the last day of the Dasara festival, featuring decorated elephants, colorful floats, and performances from various cultural groups.
